Meet Dan

Dan is a proud product of Monterey County having attended elementary, middle, and high schools as well Hartnell College, MPC, and CSUMB in route to completing a B.A degree in Social Sciences and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration.

When Dan reflects on his core values and the moral imperative that he leads from, he credits his school teachers, coaches, counselors and the school staff for helping shape his passion for serving children through education. Combined with his personal values of family, he leads from a mindset of empathy, compassion, and a genuine desire to value every relationship.

Dan is a valued member of the community where he lives in Salinas with his wife of 35 years.  Together they have two adult children, one of which is an elementary teacher in the county.  Dan is also an enthusiastic papa to his beautiful granddaughter who is starting preschool this year and is yet another driving force behind his continued passion for the field of education.

Dan’s parents were also raised in Monterey County and were great role models for demonstrating the impact of helping others and being an active citizen in the community.

Experience

With 34 years of serving students and families, 33 of which have been in Monterey County, Dan has a multitude of experiences that have prepared him for increasing levels of leadership responsibility. From humble beginnings as a school campus supervisor all the way to a district superintendent of the largest school district in the county, Dan honed his skills to lead others resulting in better outcomes for students.
